Carl Fagerlund table lamps
A rare pair of table lamps model RD1984, designed by Carl Fagerlund and produced by Orrefors in Sweden during the 1960s. The lamps exemplify Scandinavian mid-century design through their restrained geometry, precise material contrasts, and high-quality craftsmanship.
Each lamp is constructed with a solid brass structure combined with stacked, thick clear glass elements arranged concentrically around the central stem. The glass components are precisely cut and polished, creating a strong architectural rhythm while allowing light to interact subtly with the transparent surfaces. The brass shows a warm tone with a natural patina, emphasizing the material’s age and authenticity. Orrefors production markings are present, confirming origin and period.
The lamps are in excellent vintage condition, with minor signs of use consistent with age. The brass surfaces show light wear and patina, and the glass elements are well preserved with no significant damage observed. These lamps are sold without lamp shades, allowing flexibility in selecting shades appropriate to the intended interior and light character.
Carl Fagerlund is known for his refined lighting designs that combine sculptural clarity with material sophistication, often using glass as a central expressive element. This model reflects his characteristic approach, balancing decorative presence with functional restraint, and stands as a representative example of Swedish mid-century lighting design.
Dimensions are approximately 11 cm in diameter and 43 cm in height, corresponding to about 4.3 inches in diameter and 16.9 inches in height.
