Information

This dining table was designed by David Rosén and produced by Nordiska Kompaniet (NK) in Sweden during the 1950s. Rosén, known for his refined approach to modernist design, created a range of furniture that balanced functionality with carefully considered proportions and material choices. His work for NK contributed to the company’s reputation as one of Sweden’s leading producers of high-quality modern furniture throughout the mid-twentieth century.

The table is crafted in teak and beech with brass detailing. The round top is veneered in teak with a starburst pattern, showcasing the natural beauty and directionality of the wood grain. It extends with additional leaves to transform from a compact circular table into a larger oval form, supported by supplementary legs for stability. The central pedestal base, executed in solid beech, branches into four tapered legs, each ending with brass-capped feet. This combination of warm teak surfaces, structural beech, and polished brass accents is characteristic of the Scandinavian mid-century idiom, where contrasts between natural materials were emphasized in a subtle yet elegant way.

The table remains in good vintage condition, with restoration undertaken to preserve both structural integrity and surface finish. Small signs of usage and patina are present, consistent with its age and history. Its design is representative of the Scandinavian mid-century tradition, blending practicality with sculptural detail.
