David Rosén table mirror

This rare height-adjustable table mirror was designed by David Rosén and produced by Nordiska Kompaniet in Sweden in the 1950s. It is an elegant example of Scandinavian mid-century design, combining functionality with refined materials. The mirror is framed in brass with a softly rounded rectangular shape that gives it a subtle, organic character. Its proportions are balanced, and the frame shows a naturally aged patina that enhances its authenticity.

The mirror sits on a brass base with a circular profile, and its stem is wrapped in original black leather, spiraled to provide texture and visual contrast. The height-adjustable mechanism allows the mirror to be set at various levels between 48 and 63 cm, making it practical for both personal grooming and decorative use. The angle of the mirror can also be adjusted by a brass joint, secured with a small thumb screw, giving it a versatile and functional quality.

David Rosén was one of the key designers for Nordiska Kompaniet, known for his refined furniture and interior designs that combined modernist clarity with a sense of warmth and material richness. This mirror reflects his approach to design, where simple geometric forms are elevated through thoughtful detailing and the use of high-quality materials. Nordiska Kompaniet was one of Sweden’s most important producers of modern design during the mid-century period, known for its collaborations with leading designers.

The piece remains in excellent vintage condition, with signs of use and patina consistent with age, particularly visible on the brass base and frame, which have developed a warm, natural surface over time. The leather wrapping is intact, showing beautiful aging and texture.
