Erik Ivarsson vase
This rare ceramic vase was designed by Erik Ivarsson and produced by Höganäs in Sweden during the 1950s. It exemplifies the elegant yet bold aesthetic characteristic of Scandinavian mid-century design. The vase features a tall, slender form with a slightly asymmetrical, angled mouth, giving it a dynamic and sculptural presence.
The surface decoration consists of alternating black and white elongated vertical stripes extending from base to top. The hand-painted black stripes exhibit a rich, slightly textured finish that contrasts with the smooth white glaze, creating a striking visual rhythm that enhances the vase’s modernist appeal.
Höganäs, a well-known Swedish ceramics manufacturer, was recognized for producing high-quality stoneware and pioneering innovative designs. Erik Ivarsson’s work within this tradition is noted for its strong graphic patterns paired with refined forms.
The vase is in good vintage condition, showing minor wear consistent with age. Its dimensions are 11.5 centimeters in diameter and 41 centimeters in height (4.5 x 16.1 inches).
