Information

This is a very rare easy chair, model BO 361, designed by Erik Ole Jørgensen and produced by Bovirke in Denmark in 1953. The chair features a minimalistic tubular steel frame paired with a suspended suede seat, resulting in a distinctive combination of industrial precision and natural materiality. The form is compact and functional, with a curved, almost bowl-like seat that cradles the sitter. The seat is tensioned across the frame using leather lacing and buckled straps, which both support the structure and provide visual interest.

The steel frame has a matte, lightly patinated finish that shows signs of age while maintaining structural integrity. Its design relies on a system of intersecting horizontal and vertical tubes, with the rear legs splayed outward for stability and dynamic posture. The original light brown suede upholstery has developed a visible patina, with areas of natural wear and soft discoloration that highlight the age and authenticity of the piece.

Erik Ole Jørgensen was a Danish architect and designer best known for his textile and furniture work during the mid-20th century. Though trained as a furniture upholsterer and later as an architect, he maintained a strong connection to materials and surface treatments throughout his career. His designs are characterized by a balance between simplicity and tactility. This model, produced by Bovirke—a company associated with some of the most significant Danish designers of the era—exemplifies his attention to material contrast and relaxed ergonomics.

The chair is in good vintage condition, with evident signs of usage and patina to the suede and light surface wear to the steel frame. All parts is intact and functional, retaining the original construction details including the side-laced support and buckle-fastened rear tensioning.

The dimensions are 69 cm wide, 67 cm deep, and 68 cm high, with a seat height of 39 cm. In imperial units, this is approximately 27.2 inches wide, 26.4 inches deep, and 26.8 inches high, with a seat height of 15.4 inches.
