Erik Tidstrand floor lamp

This rare height-adjustable floor lamp was designed by Erik Tidstrand and produced by Nordiska Kompaniet (NK) in Sweden. It is a fine example of mid-20th century Scandinavian lighting design that balances decorative vibrancy with technical refinement. The piece reflects the period’s appreciation for adaptable functionality paired with bold, tactile materials.

The lamp features a slender brass structure with a telescoping pole that allows for adjustable height, ranging from 137 cm to 210 cm (approximately 53.9 to 82.7 inches). The height can be easily modified to accommodate different lighting needs, from reading to ambient lighting, emphasizing its versatility. The brass construction—including the pole and a broad, rounded base—is finished with a naturally aged patina that lends warmth and authenticity to the lamp’s vintage character.

The shade is slightly conical in shape and features pleated fabric, which enhances its texture and dimensionality. The fabric is adorned with a vivid floral pattern in green, orange, yellow, and white tones, presenting a lively contrast to the more reserved brass elements.
