Estrid Ericson & Anna Petrus bowl

This bowl is a rare piece designed by Estrid Ericson with sculptural contributions by Anna Petrus, produced by the prestigious Swedish firm Svenskt Tenn. Crafted in pewter, a traditional metal alloy known for its silvery-gray color and malleability, the bowl showcases the meticulous metalworking skills characteristic of Svenskt Tenn’s high-quality production.

Dating from 1927, this piece is a distinctive example of the Swedish Grace style, a design movement prevalent in the 1920s that combined neoclassical elegance with a restrained modernism. The bowl features a shallow, circular form with two outwardly curved handles.

The body of the bowl is decorated on each side with a low relief of a stylized female head, a signature element that reflects Anna Petrus’ sculptural influence. The simple yet expressive design aligns with the refined and symbolic nature of Swedish Grace, emphasizing craftsmanship and subtle ornamentation.

Measuring 27.5 cm in width including the handles, 18.5 cm in depth, and 10 cm in height, the bowl holds a substantial presence while maintaining a delicate balance of form and decoration.
