Information

This is a sculptural table lamp designed by Eva Renée Nele and produced by Temde Leuchten in Germany during the 1960s or early 1970s. The piece is emblematic of the space-age aesthetic that flourished in the post-war design landscape, particularly in Central Europe, where experimental materials and futuristic forms became central to lighting and interior design.

The lamp is composed of nine opaline glass globes arranged in a radial, almost organic cluster at the top of a single elongated stem, which flares out into a circular base. The shape references botanical structures and atomic-age imagery, characteristic of the utopian, technologically inspired motifs of the era. The base and support structure are executed in white lacquered metal, matching the satin finish of the hand-blown opaline glass shades. The finish is consistent and well-preserved, with minimal signs of wear. The lamp remains in excellent vintage condition, with all globes intact and the surface free from notable scratches, chips, or corrosion.

Eva Renée Nele, born in 1932, is a Swiss-German sculptor and designer associated with post-war modernist and avant-garde movements. While her body of work largely centers around metal sculpture, her few forays into industrial and product design exhibit a strong sculptural sensibility, treating utilitarian forms as artistic compositions. Her collaboration with Temde Leuchten, a German-Swiss lighting manufacturer active in the mid-20th century, resulted in a number of now-iconic lamp designs that blend industrial precision with expressive organic geometry. Temde, known for its high manufacturing standards and collaborations with forward-thinking designers.

This lamp belongs stylistically to the space-age or atomic design period, merging modernist minimalism with expressive, futuristic form language. It is suitable both as a functional lighting element and as a collectible sculptural object.

The dimensions are 50 cm in width and 65 cm in height, equivalent to approximately 19.7 inches wide and 25.6 inches tall.
