Floor lamps
This pair of height-adjustable floor lamps was produced in Sweden during the mid-20th century. The design reflects the refined balance of Swedish modernism, combining practical functionality with elegant proportions and high-quality materials.
Each lamp is constructed from brass and rests on a circular base of polished green marble, the natural veining of which adds subtle visual depth. The lower section of the stem features a fluted sleeve in oxidized brass, providing a contrasting tone and texture against the smoother upper shaft. The adjustable mechanism allows for variations in height and angle, making the lamps adaptable for reading or ambient illumination. The shades are newly made and pleated in off-white textile, echoing traditional Scandinavian lighting aesthetics with their softly diffused light and understated character.
The overall form is slender and architectural, with restrained use of ornamentation typical of Swedish design from the period. The use of natural stone and warm metal surfaces situates the pair within the Scandinavian modernist tradition, where materials were chosen for their tactile qualities and enduring appearance.
The lamps are in excellent condition, newly rewired for safety and functionality. Minor differences between the two indicate handcrafted production rather than industrial standardization, adding to their authenticity and individual character.
