Information

This set of three Caolina ceramic bowls was designed by Gunnar Nylund for Rörstrand in Sweden during the 1950s. The pieces display Nylund’s refined sense of sculptural balance and organic modernism, characterized by their softly curved triangular silhouettes that rise to a gentle central peak. Executed in matte glazes—two in black and one in white—the bowls exemplify the restrained elegance and tactile simplicity that define Scandinavian mid-century ceramics.

Gunnar Nylund (1904–1997) was among the leading figures of Swedish modernist design, known for his long tenure at Rörstrand and his pioneering work in matte glazes and fluid, biomorphic forms. His Caolina series captures the essence of his aesthetic vision — merging architectural precision with natural, organic rhythm.

The set remains in good vintage condition, showing minor signs of use consistent with age. Their minimal, sculptural presence makes them equally suited as functional bowls or as decorative objects, embodying the understated sophistication of mid-century Scandinavian design.

Dimensions are 16 cm wide, 16 cm deep, and 5 cm high (6.3 x 6.3 x 2.0 in)
