Hans Olsen easy chairs

This pair of easy chairs, model 500, was designed by Hans Olsen and produced by C/S Møbler in Denmark in 1962. The design reflects Olsen’s consistent interest in clear construction, balanced proportions, and functional comfort, characteristic of Danish furniture design from the early 1960s.

The chairs are constructed with frames in rosewood, showing a deep brown tone with visible grain variation. The upholstery is original green leather, presenting a dark, muted green color with a natural surface sheen. The leather is smoothly stretched over the seat, backrest, and armrests, forming a compact and well-defined silhouette. The chairs have a low, slightly reclined back and straight armrests that integrate visually with the boxy upholstered body, while the slender rosewood legs provide a lighter visual base.

The condition is excellent vintage condition. The leather shows signs of use consistent with age, including soft creasing, minor surface wear, and a well-developed patina, particularly on the seating areas and armrests. The wooden frames show light wear but remain structurally sound, with no notable damage or repairs observed.

Hans Olsen was an influential Danish designer known for his experimental approach to seating and joinery, often combining comfort with sculptural clarity. His work from this period demonstrates a refined balance between traditional craftsmanship and modernist principles.
