Henning Bergmann Andreasen & Kaj Ingemann Hansen shelf
This wall-mounted table and matching vanity box were designed and crafted by cabinetmaker Jørgen Wolff in Denmark, circa 1955. Both pieces are executed in richly grained rosewood, with the box featuring a mahogany interior, an integrated mirror, and multiple compartment dividers. The combination demonstrates the Danish cabinetmaker tradition at its highest standard, where functional clarity meets refined joinery and material sensibility.
The vanity box is hinged to reveal a square mirror framed in rosewood, supported by angled interior sides for stability. Beneath the lid, the compartmentalized structure in mahogany provides practical storage for smaller objects. The matching wall-mounted shelf is fitted with a single drawer on the left-hand side and supported by elegantly bent steel brackets that emphasize the horizontal composition and light appearance of the design.
Jørgen Wolff’s work reflects the high craftsmanship and restrained modernism of the mid-century Danish movement. His participation in the 1955 Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild Exhibition at Designmuseum Danmark positioned this model among some of the finest examples of postwar Scandinavian furniture, where the focus was on modularity, precision, and adaptability within domestic interiors.
The ensemble is in excellent condition with minimal signs of age and use, showing a well-preserved surface and fine patina to the rosewood.
