Henning Kjærnulf dining table
This rare and impressive dining table, model 62, was designed by Henning Kjærnulf and produced by Sorø Stolefabrik in Denmark in 1958. Exemplifying the grace and craftsmanship of Danish mid-century furniture, the table combines sculptural precision with functional versatility, making it both an architectural centerpiece and a highly practical dining solution.
Executed in richly grained rosewood, the table showcases the material’s natural depth and variation, with a lustrous surface that enhances its organic character. The softly rounded tabletop rests on elegantly tapered legs connected by subtly carved aprons — details that reveal Kjærnulf’s deep understanding of proportion and form.
This model is particularly notable for its expandable construction: the table extends to an impressive length of 325 cm when fully opened, providing generous space for large gatherings while maintaining its refined silhouette. Recently restored to excellent vintage condition, it retains its original warmth and integrity, with a smooth, even finish that highlights the exquisite rosewood veneer.
A true testament to the golden age of Danish modern design, this piece embodies the ideals of craftsmanship, material honesty, and enduring beauty.
