Herbert Ode lamps
This rare pair of model Triolett pole lamps, designed by Herbert Ode and produced by Ho Armatur in Sweden in the mid-1960s, exemplifies Scandinavian mid-century lighting with its elegant combination of form and function. Each lamp features a telescopic brass pole intended for floor-to-ceiling mounting via adjustable pressure, offering versatile placement without permanent installation.
Supporting three light sources per lamp, each is equipped with a conical shade mounted on flexible, individually adjustable brass arms, allowing precise directional lighting. The polished brass finish covers the central shaft, articulated arms, and hardware, presenting a warm and reflective surface accented by subtle patina consistent with vintage condition. The shades have been recently replaced with ones faithful to the original design—crafted from a light woven textile that gently diffuses the light, complementing the brass components.
The lamps include discreet white plastic switches on the rear of each head, housed within perforated brass casings that facilitate heat dissipation and airflow, illustrating the thoughtful engineering behind the design.
Herbert Ode, though lesser-known, contributed significantly to Sweden’s functionalist lighting scene, and Ho Armatur was renowned for producing high-quality architectural fixtures in brass. The Triolett lamps reflect the mid-century Scandinavian emphasis on adjustability, space efficiency, and warm materiality, with a slender, symmetrical profile that fits elegantly into a variety of interiors.
Both lamps are in good vintage condition, with minor wear and a gentle brass patina. All mechanical and electrical components function correctly. Each lamp measures approximately 60 cm (23.6 inches) in diameter, with an adjustable height ranging from 220 cm to 270 cm (86.6 to 106.3 inches).
