Ib Kofod-Larsen coffee table

This rare coffee table was designed by Ib Kofod-Larsen and produced by Seffle Möbelfabrik in Sweden during the 1960s. It represents the Scandinavian mid-century modern aesthetic, combining refined proportions with natural materials. The rectangular form is supported by a rosewood frame with slender, tapered legs that emphasize elegance and lightness while providing stability.

The tabletop is crafted from black anorthosite stone, a highly durable igneous rock known for its deep black surface interspersed with subtle crystalline reflections in shades of blue and grey. This material creates a striking contrast with the rich reddish-brown grain of the rosewood base, giving the piece both visual depth and textural richness. The interplay between the organic wood pattern and the shimmering stone surface demonstrates the Scandinavian tradition of harmonizing natural materials.
