Ilmari Tapiovaara was a prominent Finnish designer whose work bridged traditional craftsmanship and modernist design principles. His furniture designs often focused on modularity, practicality, and the thoughtful use of high-quality materials. Asko was one of Finland’s leading furniture manufacturers during the mid-20th century, noted for their precision manufacturing and collaborations with esteemed designers like Tapiovaara.
The sideboard embodies the Scandinavian modern aesthetic through its clean geometric lines and refined material contrasts. The warmth of the teak wood complements the sleek black lacquered base, while the mirrored glass backing and glass shelves add visual depth and functionality by reflecting light and creating an open, airy feel. The condition of the piece is consistent with its vintage age, showing minor wear primarily on the lacquered surfaces and wood, which contributes to its authentic character.
The sideboard measures approximately 176 cm in width, 32.5 cm in depth, and 85 cm in height, or about 69.3 inches wide, 12.8 inches deep, and 33.5 inches high.
