Jens Quistgaard attrib. candlesticks
This rare set of candlesticks is attributed to Jens Harald Quistgaard and was produced by Dansk Design in Denmark during the 1950s. Executed in solid brass, the set comprises seventeen individual candlesticks, each displaying a refined balance of sculptural form and functionality.
The candlesticks feature a tall, slender silhouette with flaring trumpet-shaped tops and conical bases, punctuated at mid-height by a subtle ring detail. Their design is modular and architectural, enabling arrangements in varying groupings and patterns. The brass surface shows a rich natural patina, giving depth and warmth to the polished material while underscoring the age and authenticity of the pieces.
Jens Harald Quistgaard was one of Denmark’s most influential post-war designers, best known for his work with Dansk Design, where he created tableware and household objects that combined modern Scandinavian aesthetics with practicality. His candlestick designs are particularly sought after for their sculptural qualities and for their ability to function both as utilitarian objects and as decorative compositions.
The set remains in excellent condition, with only minor surface variations consistent with age and material. It is a representative example of Danish mid-century design, blending elegance, utility, and timeless craftsmanship.
