Information

Rare set of 10 armchairs designed by Johannes Andersen. Produced by Uldum møbelfabrik in Denmark.

This rare set of ten armchairs was designed by Johannes Andersen and produced by Uldum Møbelfabrik in Denmark during the 1960s. The chairs exemplify the refined craftsmanship and organic aesthetic of Scandinavian modernism, combining sculptural wooden frames with high-quality leather upholstery. Each chair features a solid rosewood frame with a rich, warm grain pattern. The frame is defined by smooth, flowing lines, particularly in the armrests, which curve gently to provide both visual elegance and ergonomic support. The rear legs extend seamlessly into the backrest, emphasizing the continuity of the design. The seat and backrest are upholstered in brown leather, which has aged naturally, adding character to the chairs. The leather is stretched over a lightly padded structure, ensuring comfort while maintaining a sleek profile.

Johannes Andersen was known for his sculptural approach to furniture design, often integrating organic forms with functional elements. Uldum Møbelfabrik was a well-regarded Danish furniture manufacturer that specialized in producing high-quality pieces, ensuring precise joinery and exceptional material selection.

Each chair measures 56.5 cm in width, 55 cm in depth, and 84.5 cm in height (22.2 x 21.7 x 33.3 inches), with a seat height of 44 cm (17.3 inches). The condition is consistent with age, with minor signs of wear on the leather and wood, preserving the original patina.
