Johannes Andersen bar stools

This set of three bar stools was designed by Johannes Andersen and produced by Brdr. Andersens Møbelfabrik A/S in 1961. Crafted from solid rosewood, the stools display the rich, characteristic grain of the material and retain their original black leather upholstery. The slightly concave seats are shaped for comfort, while the frames balance organic curves with structural stability.

Johannes Andersen was a Danish designer celebrated for his sculptural, fluid forms and meticulous attention to detail. His work epitomizes mid-century Scandinavian design, combining functionality with aesthetic harmony. Brdr. Andersens Møbelfabrik A/S, a respected Danish manufacturer, specialized in high-quality wooden furniture and collaborated with prominent designers to produce well-crafted modernist pieces.

The stools have a four-legged construction with gently tapered legs that angle outward, providing solid stability. Horizontal and diagonal stretchers reinforce the frame and contribute to the design’s visual rhythm. The rosewood enhances durability and lends a warm, luxurious tone, while the black leather seats offer a contrasting texture and color, showing minor wear consistent with age.

Each stool measures 37 cm in width, 32 cm in depth, and 77 cm in height (14.6 x 12.6 x 30.3 inches), with a seat height of 76 cm (29.9 inches). The stools are well-preserved, exhibiting a natural patina on both leather and wood surfaces.
