Johannes Andersen bar stools

This pair of bar stools was designed by Johannes Andersen and produced by Brdr. Andersens Møbelfabrik A/S in Denmark in 1961. The stools are executed with a tall, slender structure that emphasizes verticality and lightness, while maintaining a stable and well-balanced construction. The design reflects Andersen’s characteristic approach to combining functional clarity with refined proportions and subtle sculptural detailing.

The frames are constructed in solid wood with a deep brown tone and visible grain, suggesting rosewood or a closely related hardwood commonly used by the manufacturer during this period. Each stool stands on four tapered legs connected by shaped stretchers that also function as footrests.
