Kai Kristiansen mirror
This mirror was designed by Kai Kristiansen and produced by Aksel Kjersgaard in Odder, Denmark, during the 1950s. The frame is made of solid teak with a warm brown tone and a fine visible grain, showcasing the precision and craftsmanship typical of Danish mid-century furniture. The rectangular frame is characterized by its clean lines and slightly rounded corners, with visible joinery details where wooden dowels secure the corners, adding both structural strength and a subtle decorative element.
The teak surface has developed a rich patina over time, enhancing the depth of the wood grain. Signs of use are present but consistent with age, giving the piece an authentic vintage character. The mirror glass remains clear and in good condition, offering full functionality as well as visual presence.
Kai Kristiansen (born 1929) is regarded as one of the leading figures of Danish modernism. Known for his refined, functional furniture, Kristiansen often worked with Aksel Kjersgaard, whose production was noted for high-quality cabinetmaking and precise attention to detail. Pieces from this collaboration are valued for their simplicity and timelessness, making them enduring examples of Scandinavian modern design.
The mirror is well-suited for use in an entryway, bedroom, or dressing area, where its minimalistic design allows it to integrate seamlessly with other mid-century furniture. It measures 41 cm in width, 3 cm in depth, and 104 cm in height, corresponding to approximately 16.1 x 1.2 x 40.9 inches.
