Information

This coffee table, model Plommonet, was designed by Kerstin Hörlin-Holmquist and produced by Nordiska Kompaniet in Sweden in 1953. The tabletop has an elongated, elliptical form with subtly pointed ends, supported by a sculptural underframe resting on four tapered feet. The proportions are slender and refined, giving the table a light and elegant presence.

Executed in mahogany and walnut, the piece shows a warm, golden-brown tonality with visible grain patterns that run longitudinally along the top. The contrasting woods emphasize the organic geometry of the silhouette and reflect Holmquist’s sensitivity to material expression. The underframe is notably crafted, with curved and joined elements that provide structural stability while contributing to the overall furniture architecture.

Kerstin Hörlin-Holmquist was an influential Swedish designer whose work often balanced modernist tendencies with softer, more organic sensibilities. Her collaboration with Nordiska Kompaniet was central to defining a Swedish mid-century aesthetic that combined function, material quality, and graceful form.

The table is in good vintage condition with small signs of use and has been restored while preserving the surface character and patina.

Dimensions are 124 × 56 × 53 cm (48.8 × 22.0 × 20.9 inches)
