Knud Vodder bar stools
This very rare set of four bar stools model KV 58 was designed by Knud Vodder and produced by the cabinetmaker Niels Vodder in Denmark. Each stool features a sculptural seat with an integrated low backrest, upholstered in original black leather that has developed a rich, natural patina over time. The seats are mounted on four tapered solid wood legs in a dark finish, joined by brass stretchers that act as both stabilizers and footrests. The combination of dark wood, black leather, and warm brass details gives the stools an elegant and refined presence.
The condition is good, with signs of usage and age-appropriate wear. The leather shows light creasing, characteristic of original upholstery, and the wood has minor surface marks consistent with careful use. The brass stretchers have a mellow patina, which adds to the visual depth and authenticity of the set.
Knud Vodder was one of Denmark’s most important mid-century designers, celebrated for his organic yet functional furniture that often incorporated refined details and high-quality materials. He collaborated extensively with master cabinetmaker Niels Vodder, whose workshop was known for its exceptional craftsmanship and for producing some of the finest Danish modern furniture of the period. Together, they created pieces that are now highly sought after for their understated luxury and timeless design.
The style of these stools reflects the Danish modern tradition, with emphasis on craftsmanship, clean lines, and harmonious proportions. Their tall, slender legs and gentle curves make them ideal for use at a bar or high counter while contributing to a sophisticated interior setting.
