Maria Lindeman floor lamp
This very rare floor lamp was designed by Maria Lindeman and produced by Idman in Finland during the 1940s. The lamp features a sleek black lacquered metal body with a slender vertical rod rising from a circular brass base. Two adjustable arms extend from the central column, each supporting a conical black metal lampshade. Each shade is accented by a decorative brass ring composed of coiled loops, adding a sculptural and refined detail that enhances the overall aesthetic. The dual adjustable shades allow for versatile lighting configurations, catering to various functional needs.
Maria Lindeman was a Finnish designer known for her sophisticated and practical lighting designs that harmoniously combined modernist aesthetics with functionality. Idman, one of Finland’s foremost lighting manufacturers in the mid-20th century, earned a reputation for producing high-quality and innovative Scandinavian modern lighting solutions.
This lamp remains in its original condition, showing signs of wear consistent with its age. The brass base has developed a warm patina that contributes to its vintage character, while the black lacquered metal surfaces display minor marks and usage indicative of careful preservation.
The lamp measures approximately 65 cm in width, 23 cm in depth, and 158 cm in height (25.6 x 9.1 x 62.2 inches).
