Information

Very rare easy chair model “Aluminiumfåtölj” designed by Mats Theselius and produced by Källemo in Sweden in 1990. This example is numbered 83 from the limited edition of 200 pieces and represents one of the most distinctive and collectible Scandinavian contemporary furniture designs of the late twentieth century. The chair combines an industrial aluminium shell with richly patinated woven leather upholstery and softly rounded beech details, creating a striking contrast between refined craftsmanship and utilitarian construction.

The exterior is executed in brushed aluminium panels fastened with visible screws and mounted on cast metal legs, giving the piece its characteristic architectural and almost machine-like expression. In contrast, the interior is upholstered in handwoven cognac-brown leather with a pronounced natural patina and tonal variation throughout. The curved beech top rail softens the otherwise strict geometric silhouette and emphasizes the sculptural form. Mats Theselius became internationally recognized for his ability to merge industrial materials with traditional artisanal techniques, and the Aluminiumfåtölj remains one of his most iconic and sought-after works.

The chair works equally well as a functional armchair and as a statement piece in contemporary, industrial or postmodern interiors. Due to its limited production and highly recognizable design language, it has become increasingly desirable among collectors of Scandinavian contemporary design.

Dimensions: width 59 cm / 23.2 in, depth 63 cm / 24.8 in, height 73 cm / 28.7 in. Seat height: 50 cm / 19.7 in.
