Mauri Almari floor lamp
This rare floor lamp, model 62046, was designed by Mauri Almari and produced by Idman in Finland during the 1950s. It features a slender brass shaft rising from a circular brass base, gracefully culminating in three upward-curving arms. Each arm supports an elongated opaline glass shade with a flared top, secured by scalloped brass collars. These shades diffuse light softly and evenly, casting an ambient upward glow.
The entire structure is made of brass, exhibiting a warm, natural patina developed over time. The opaline glass shades display a creamy, translucent quality. The gently twisting arms evoke a botanical elegance, contrasting with the lamp’s minimalist, geometric base and shaft.
Mauri Almari was a prominent Finnish lighting designer known for his contributions to Scandinavian modernism. Idman, a major Finnish lighting manufacturer, was renowned for producing designs by leading figures such as Almari, Tapio Wirkkala, and Paavo Tynell.
The lamp is in good vintage condition, showing expected wear and patina for its age. The original glass shades are intact with minimal signs of use.
