Full-lenght mirror
This full-length mirror dates to the 1940s and is constructed with a nickel-plated metal frame and mirrored glass. The mirror is rectangular with softly rounded corners, a form that was common in functionalist interiors of the period, where geometric simplicity was emphasized. The nickel-plated mounting elements secure the glass at the top and bottom edges, providing both structural integrity and a subtle decorative feature.
The mirrored surface shows heavy signs of usage, with visible nicks, scratches, and marks to the glass, which contribute to its patinated character. These traces of wear reflect the mirror’s age and long history of use, while the metal elements also display some wear consistent with oxidation and handling over time.
Mirrors of this type were often designed to be both practical and restrained in form, suitable for domestic and public interiors alike. The nickel-plated finish was valued for its durability and its ability to harmonize with a range of modernist furnishings during the mid-20th century.
