Paavo Tynell floor lamps

This very rare pair of floor lamps, model K10-10, designed by Paavo Tynell and produced by Idman in Finland, exemplifies the elegance, craftsmanship, and atmospheric sensitivity that define Tynell’s contribution to 20th-century lighting design. The K10-10 lamps feature conical black lacquered metal shades, each finely perforated with delicate pinhole patterns—an iconic Tynell motif. These perforations serve both functional and decorative purposes: when the lamp is lit, the light gently filters through the tiny holes, casting a soft, diffused glow and creating a dynamic interplay of light and shadow. The interior of the shades is likely finished in a reflective white or brass tone, enhancing the downlight effect and improving the overall illumination.
