Poul Østergaard cabinets
This very rare pair of wall-mounted cabinets, designed by Poul Østergaard and produced by cabinetmaker Alfred Klitgaard in Denmark, is a distinguished example of Scandinavian mid-century craftsmanship. The cabinets are made from Brazilian rosewood, prized for its rich grain and deep tonal variations, and feature glass front panels framed by striking red profiles. The brass hinges and fittings provide a refined accent, underscoring the meticulous attention to detail characteristic of Klitgaard’s woodworking.
One cabinet is equipped with seven pull-out cutlery trays, also crafted from Brazilian rosewood, offering highly organized and functional storage. The other cabinet includes two clear glass shelves, designed for open display purposes. Both interiors are lined with a blue fabric backing, which provides a subtle contrast to the dark rosewood, enhancing the visibility and depth of the items stored inside.
