Information

This very rare office chair, model FK 84, designed by Preben Fabricius and Jørgen Kastholm and produced by Alfred Kill International in Germany in 1962, is a distinguished example of mid-century modern design. The chair masterfully combines chromed steel, rosewood, and black leather, embodying a harmonious balance between industrial materials and organic form.

The chair’s structure features a three-legged chromed steel base with a central swivel mechanism, offering both stability and mobility. The seat and backrest are formed from a single molded rosewood shell, showcasing the natural grain of the wood on the exterior for a refined visual appeal. The interior is upholstered in high-quality black leather with tufted detailing, providing comfort alongside its sleek aesthetic. The integrated armrests combine chromed steel with leather padding, enhancing ergonomic support without disrupting the chair’s minimalist design.

Fabricius and Kastholm were celebrated for their precision engineering and modernist principles, often integrating industrial materials with elegant, functional shapes. Their collaboration produced iconic office and lounge furniture that remains highly regarded for its balance of form and function. Alfred Kill International, known for meticulous craftsmanship, was instrumental in realizing these sophisticated designs.
