Information

This rare pair of sofas was designed by Preben Fabricius and Jørgen Kastholm and produced by Alfred Kill International in Germany during the 1960s. They exemplify the precision and elegance of mid-century modern design through their use of high-quality materials and minimalist aesthetics.

The sofas feature polished stainless steel frames that form a lightweight yet structurally robust foundation. The legs seamlessly extend into the armrests, which are accented with wrapped leather detailing to enhance comfort and add textural contrast. The linear geometry of the metal frame contrasts strikingly with the softness of the original leather cushions, balancing industrial precision with organic warmth.

The cushions are upholstered in original brown leather, which has developed a rich patina over time. The leather is thick and supple, conforming comfortably to the body while maintaining durability. The piping along the edges shows wear and minor damage consistent with age and use, reflecting the sofas’ vintage authenticity.

Preben Fabricius and Jørgen Kastholm were renowned for their collaborative work blending Danish craftsmanship with German engineering. Their partnership produced some of the most iconic mid-century modern seating designs, distinguished by sleek lines, superior materials, and ergonomic focus.

Each sofa measures 145 cm in width, 80 cm in depth, and 78 cm in height, with a seat height of 44 cm (approximately 57.1 by 31.5 by 30.7 inches, with a seat height of 17.3 inches).
