Information

This rare dressing table, produced in Denmark during the 1960s, is attributed to an unknown designer. Executed in rich rosewood, the piece exemplifies mid-century Scandinavian modernism through its use of material and form. The design is clean and rectilinear, with a symmetrical composition that balances function with aesthetic clarity.

The dressing table consists of two pedestal drawer units supporting a broad tabletop surface, integrated with a centrally positioned, three-part folding mirror. The mirror features a central flat panel flanked by angled side panels, offering a comprehensive viewing angle. The cabinetry is constructed from book-matched rosewood veneer, displaying distinctive dark grain patterns that range from linear striations to more expressive, organic figurations. The grain is carefully aligned across the drawers and sides, providing a continuous visual flow that adds depth and interest to the piece.

Practicality is enhanced by a total of six drawers—three on each side—offering ample storage. The drawer fronts are handle-free, relying on notched cut-outs for grip, which contributes to the minimalist and refined appearance of the piece. The base of the pedestal units is recessed, creating a slight floating effect, which lightens the visual mass and elevates the overall design.

The condition of the piece is very good, with the veneer surfaces remaining well-preserved, maintaining their natural sheen and clarity. Minor signs of wear consistent with age are present but are unobtrusive, further contributing to the piece’s authenticity and vintage charm. The craftsmanship reflects the high standards typical of Danish cabinetmaking, with precise joinery and a well-executed finish.

The dimensions of the dressing table are 145.5 cm in width, 50.5 cm in depth, and 62 cm in height to the tabletop surface. Including the mirror, the total height reaches 118 cm. In imperial units, the dimensions are approximately 57.3 inches wide, 19.9 inches deep, and 24.4 inches high to the table surface, with a total height of 46.5 inches including the mirror.
