Information

This side table or small sideboard, model Casino, was designed by Swedish architects Sven Engström and Gunnar Myrstrand in the 1960s and produced by Tingströms, a respected Swedish manufacturer noted for its collaborations with leading Scandinavian modern designers. Tingströms was known for its focus on clarity of form, proportion, and fine craftsmanship, all of which are evident in this piece.

Constructed from solid and veneered oak, the table displays a uniform warm honey tone with a matte finish that emphasizes the natural texture and grain of the wood. The design features a rectangular cabinet resting on a slender but sturdy base frame, supported by square-section legs connected by integrated stretchers. The front is composed of two symmetrical stacks of drawers, each containing four drawers with round, flush-mounted wooden knobs. This creates a rhythmic visual pattern that enhances the piece’s clean, functional aesthetic.

The overall form is minimal and practical, reflecting the principles of Scandinavian mid-century design with an emphasis on usability and understated elegance. Its height and slim proportions make it versatile enough for use as a hallway cabinet, occasional sideboard, or storage table in smaller spaces.

The sideboard is in very good condition, showing minor wear consistent with age and regular use. The dimensions are 100 centimeters (39.4 inches) in width, 45 centimeters (17.7 inches) in depth, and 78 centimeters (30.7 inches) in height.
