Tapio Wirkkala coffee table

This very rare coffee table, model 9020, was designed by Tapio Wirkkala and produced by Asko in Finland in 1958. The table exemplifies Wirkkala’s sculptural approach to furniture design, blending organic form with technical precision in a way that captures the essence of Scandinavian modernism during the mid-20th century.

The base is constructed in solid oak, shaped into a fluid, branching structure that demonstrates remarkable craftsmanship. Each joint and curve is carefully executed, creating a seamless visual flow that recalls the natural growth patterns of wood while maintaining a refined architectural balance.
