Torbjørn Afdal Krobo bench

This bench or side table is the model Krobo, designed by Torbjørn Afdal and produced by Mellemstrands Møbelfabrik in Norway during the 1960s. It is made of rosewood, featuring a beautifully figured top with rich grain patterns and a slightly raised edge detail that frames the surface. The long, narrow proportions of the design allow it to function either as a bench or as a low table, making it a versatile piece within an interior.

Afdal’s design for the Krobo bench is considered one of his most enduring works, celebrated for its simplicity, practicality, and elegance. This example is presented in good vintage condition and has been completely restored, allowing the rosewood to display its natural luster and detail while preserving the integrity of the original design.
