Uno & Östen Kristiansson floor lamp

This rare floor lamp was designed by the Swedish designer duo Uno & Östen Kristiansson and produced by Luxus in Vittsjö, Sweden during the 1960s. The lamp features a cylindrical stem and base crafted from solid rosewood, which displays a rich dark brown tone with pronounced grain patterns and natural variation. The structure is supported by a flat, circular base and holds an opaline plastic inner shade along with the original external fabric shade. The external shade is conically tapered and softly diffuses the light.

The design embodies the mid-century Scandinavian lighting principles of functional simplicity combined with high material quality and craftsmanship. The clean vertical line of the rosewood stem contrasts with the light and airy character of the shade, creating a balanced and harmonious form. The wood has developed a warm patina over time and remains structurally sound, showing minor age-appropriate surface wear. A discreet on/off switch is located at the top of the stem below the inner shade, maintaining the lamp’s minimalist aesthetic.

Uno & Östen Kristiansson were prominent designers in mid-20th century Sweden and closely connected with Luxus, a manufacturer recognized for modern lighting and furniture executed in natural materials. Their work highlights minimalism, tactile quality, and proportion, all evident in this lamp.

The lamp is in very good vintage condition with all original components intact, including both shades. It offers warm, ambient lighting suitable for reading or atmospheric illumination.
