Viggo Boesen sofa
This very rare sofa was designed by Danish architect and designer Viggo Boesen and produced by Slagelse Møbelfabrik in Denmark during the 1930s–1940s. The piece exemplifies Boesen’s signature organic approach, which played a key role in the development of the Danish “Funkis” and later “Danish Modern” styles. The softly curved backrest and rounded armrests create an inviting and sculptural silhouette, emphasizing Boesen’s belief that furniture should be both functional and embracing.
The frame is made of oak, displaying warm tones and a gentle grain pattern that contrasts harmoniously with the new sheepskin upholstery. The sheepskin has been carefully selected to replicate the original luxurious look, complementing the sofa’s natural, organic form and accentuating its soft and welcoming character. The angled arm supports and gently splayed legs add to the dynamic appearance, giving the piece a sense of movement even when at rest.
This sofa remains in excellent condition with only minor signs of wear on the wooden parts, consistent with age. The reupholstery ensures it is ready for immediate use while staying true to its original design intent.
The dimensions are 175 x 100 x 81 cm (68.9 x 39.4 x 31.9 inches).
