Information

Pair of easy chairs designed by Yngve Ekström and produced by Swedese in Sweden during the 1950s. The chairs feature elegantly shaped teak frames with a distinctively angular construction, balancing structural clarity and visual lightness. The sculpted rear legs continue seamlessly into the backrest supports, creating a refined architectural outline that is characteristic of Ekström’s design language.

The seats and backs are newly upholstered in a mustard-yellow wool fabric, which complements the warmth of the teak and accentuates the Scandinavian modern aesthetic. The fabric’s fine texture and saturated tone add depth and liveliness to the overall form while preserving the integrity of the original design.

Yngve Ekström, co-founder of Swedese in 1945, was one of the leading figures in postwar Scandinavian design. His work is recognized for its precise craftsmanship, humanistic proportions, and the use of natural materials. These easy chairs illustrate Ekström’s functionalist principles, blending simplicity with ergonomic comfort and subtle organic curves.

The pair is in good vintage condition with minor signs of use consistent with age. The teak surfaces retain an even tone and natural sheen, and the upholstery has been recently renewed in accordance with the original specification.
