Børge Mogensen dining table
Rare extendable dining table or desk designed by Børge Mogensen and produced by Søborg Møbelfabrik in Denmark, 1953.
The table is made of solid teak with a warm, even grain and steel folding legs, creating a light and functional appearance. The design is highly practical, with two drop-leaves that allow the table to be extended from 140 cm to 240 cm in length, making it versatile for both everyday use and larger gatherings. The folding steel legs are elegantly constructed, providing stability while contributing to the table’s minimal and modern expression.
This design is a fine example of Mogensen’s approach to furniture, focusing on functionality, honest materials, and timeless proportions. The table embodies the principles of mid-century Scandinavian design, balancing utility with refined craftsmanship.
Good vintage condition with small signs of age and use, including minor surface wear on the teak top and light patina on the metal legs, consistent with careful use over time.
