Information

This very rare stool, designed by Sven Ellekær and produced by Christian Linnebergs Møbelfabrik in Denmark in 1962, is a refined example of Scandinavian modern design characterized by clean lines, organic form, and high-quality materials. The stool features a reversible round seat upholstered in Kvadrat™ wool fabric, presenting a two-tone color scheme of white and yellow. The upholstery is tightly fitted with a fine texture, complementing the stool’s elegant silhouette.

Supporting the seat is a solid teak frame with four gracefully curved legs that extend outward from the center, providing both stability and visual balance. Each leg is enhanced with an inlaid strip of dark wood, introducing a subtle contrast that adds sophistication to the overall design.

Sven Ellekær was a notable Danish designer whose work contributed significantly to the Scandinavian modern movement. His designs often emphasized simplicity, organic shapes, and the harmonious use of quality materials. Christian Linnebergs Møbelfabrik, the manufacturer, was known for its meticulous craftsmanship and innovative mid-century furniture production techniques.

The stool remains in good condition with minor, age-appropriate wear. The combination of durable teak and premium wool fabric ensures both longevity and a soft, inviting aesthetic, making it a distinctive example of mid-century Scandinavian furniture.

The stool measures 53.5 cm in width and depth, and 36 cm in height (21.1 x 21.1 x 14.2 inches), with a seat height of 36 cm (14.2 inches).
