Information

This height-adjustable floor lamp was produced by ASEA in Sweden during the 1950s, though the designer remains unknown. The lamp features a vertically adjustable stem crafted from patinated brass, complemented by a bent arm that supports a lacquered metal shade in a pale cream color. The conical shade has softly rounded contours and an open top, allowing light to diffuse upward while also providing directed task illumination. The height adjustment is facilitated by a locking screw mechanism positioned at the midpoint of the stem.

The design exemplifies mid-century Scandinavian industrial lighting, blending practical functionality with clean, balanced forms. The combination of brass and lacquered metal reflects the material palette typical of the 1950s. Over time, natural wear and oxidation have imparted a warm, aged character to the lamp.

The lamp measures 31.5 cm in width and 80 cm in depth (approximately 12.4 by 31.5 inches) and adjusts in height from 146 cm to 183 cm (approximately 57.5 to 72 inches).
