Information

This large ceiling lamp, model T-348/12, was designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in Markaryd, Sweden, during the 1950s. The lamp exemplifies Jakobsson’s architectural approach to lighting design, characterized by geometric clarity, modular repetition, and warm brass finishes.

Constructed in solid brass with original hand-blown clear glass globes, the chandelier comprises twelve evenly spaced arms radiating from a central vertical stem. Each arm supports a cylindrical brass socket housing an exposed bulb, which is enclosed within a spherical clear glass globe. The transparency of the glass enhances the visual presence of the bulbs and their fittings, creating a sense of weightlessness while allowing the lamp’s brass structure to define its spatial volume.

The brass components exhibit a warm golden tone and have developed a soft patina with age, along with minor surface markings and light oxidation consistent with vintage condition. The overall finish remains uniform and reflective, contributing to the chandelier’s refined yet industrial aesthetic. The stamped “Made in Sweden” mark on the glass confirms its authenticity and origin.

Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919–2009) was a leading Swedish lighting designer whose works ranged from delicate wall sconces to grand architectural fixtures. Known for his sensitive handling of light diffusion and form, Jakobsson often explored combinations of metal, glass, and wood in his lighting to achieve a distinct Scandinavian elegance. The T-348/12 model represents one of his more substantial and dramatic designs, suitable for large interiors or public spaces, combining sculptural impact with balanced luminosity.

The chandelier is in good vintage condition with small signs of usage, including slight abrasions and wear to the brass surfaces and natural irregularities in the glass. All glass globes are intact and original.

The dimensions are 150 cm in diameter and 100 cm in height, which corresponds to approximately 59.1 inches in diameter and 39.4 inches in height.
