Svante Skogh sofa
This rare sofa, model Bodö, was designed by Svante Skogh and produced by Seffle Möbelfabrik in Sweden during the 1950s. The design is a hallmark of Swedish mid-century craftsmanship, combining architectural precision with a warm, tactile material palette.
Constructed in solid oak, the frame features clean, geometric lines and a distinctive open structure with exposed joinery. The back and seat are supported by interwoven brown leather straps that not only provide functional elasticity but also contribute to the visual rhythm of the piece. These elements reflect Skogh’s ability to integrate functional innovation with a refined sculptural sensibility.
The cushions have been newly reupholstered in a textured grey wool fabric, offering a soft contrast to the golden tones of the oak and the patinated leather. The composition achieves a balance between structural strength and visual lightness, making the sofa both comfortable and striking from every angle.
The Bodö model exemplifies Svante Skogh’s modernist approach, emphasizing honesty of materials and the relationship between structure and surface. It was produced by Seffle Möbelfabrik, one of Sweden’s respected mid-century manufacturers known for meticulous craftsmanship.
