Børge Mogensen side table
This is a rare side table designed by Børge Mogensen and produced by Fredericia Stolefabrik in Denmark during the 1950s. The table is constructed in oak with a woven cane top, a combination that highlights Mogensen’s ability to merge rustic materiality with refined functionalism. The rectangular form rests on straight oak legs joined with a solid apron, giving the piece a simple and sturdy expression that is characteristic of Mogensen’s design language.
The woven cane top is executed in a tightly interlaced pattern, providing both strength and visual rhythm. The natural variation in the cane and the soft patina developed over time enhance the tactile qualities of the table, while the oak structure carries a warm, even tone. Rounded corners soften the otherwise rectilinear profile, reflecting Mogensen’s concern for usability and comfort in everyday life.
The table is in good vintage condition, showing small signs of usage and a natural patina across both oak and cane surfaces. These signs of age are consistent with authentic mid-century furniture and add to the object’s historical presence.
