Rosewood desk

This is a rare and generously proportioned desk with integrated sideboard, produced in Denmark during the 1960s. The piece is constructed in richly grained rosewood, which presents a dramatic and highly figured veneer pattern across all surfaces, combined with a steel base and legs that lend an elegant industrial contrast. The rosewood has been carefully restored and finished to bring out its natural depth and warm glow, resulting in a rich satin sheen that highlights the linear grain structure.

The desk features an asymmetrical composition, with a large rectangular writing surface that appears to float above the storage section, supported by slender steel legs and brackets. The sideboard section includes several drawers and cabinets, offering ample storage. One of the drawers retains its original fitted tray, a detail that points to the thoughtful design and functional intent of the piece. The streamlined steel pulls and hardware emphasize the minimalist aesthetic, while the clean horizontal lines and cantilevered proportions give the desk a light, architectural presence.
