Information

This rare pair of armchairs, model 62, was designed by Niels Otto Møller and produced by J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik in Denmark during the 1960s. Crafted in rosewood with the original black leather upholstery, the chairs exemplify Møller’s dedication to fine craftsmanship and organic form, hallmarks of Danish modern furniture design.

The design is defined by its sculptural frame and fluid lines, where the armrests and backrest merge seamlessly into the structure. The three horizontal back rails create a light, airy appearance while maintaining ergonomic support. The subtle curvature of the frame and the precision of the joinery highlight the meticulous hand-finishing for which Møller’s workshop became renowned. The original black leather seat complements the deep reddish-brown tone and expressive grain of the rosewood, emphasizing both comfort and material richness.

The chairs are in excellent vintage condition with minor signs of age and patina, consistent with careful use. The surfaces display a beautifully preserved sheen, underscoring the quality of the rosewood and the integrity of the construction.

Niels Otto Møller, who founded his own factory in 1944, was known for designing every detail of his chairs to ensure both aesthetic harmony and lasting durability. Model 62 represents one of his most refined expressions of mid-century Scandinavian craftsmanship, balancing sculptural elegance with functional clarity.
