Information

A rare and substantial ceiling lamp designed by Holger Johansson and produced by Westal in Bankeryd, Sweden during the 1950s. The piece exemplifies Scandinavian mid-century modern lighting with a strong architectural presence, combining clean geometry with warm materiality. The structure is executed in brass with a rich, golden tone that has developed a natural patina over time, adding depth and character to the surface.

The design features a radial composition with seven arms extending symmetrically from a central hub. Each arm terminates in a vertical support holding a spherical glass shade. The globes are made of lightly tinted clear glass with an irregular bubbled texture, creating a subtle diffusion of light and a lively visual effect both when lit and unlit. The contrast between the строг linear brass framework and the soft, rounded glass forms gives the chandelier a balanced yet sculptural appearance.

The construction is precise and refined, with visible screws and fittings that emphasize its functionalist origins. The central stem rises to a simple conical canopy, maintaining a cohesive design language throughout. When illuminated, the lamp emits a warm, atmospheric glow, with the textured glass enhancing the light distribution and producing a gently sparkling effect.

This example remains in good vintage condition with minor signs of age and use, including light wear and patina to the brass surfaces. The glass shades are well preserved, with typical variations from the manufacturing process.

Dimensions are approximately 90 cm in diameter (35.4 inches) and 125 cm in height (49.2 inches).
