Easy chairs
This rare pair of large easy chairs was produced in Denmark during the 1940s and reflects key elements of mid-century Scandinavian design. The chairs feature sculptural, organic forms characterized by rounded, enveloping armrests and a gently curved high back adorned with deep button tufting, creating a sense of comfort and visual softness.
The base is supported by stained beech legs that are subtly recessed, maintaining the overall smooth and inviting silhouette. Recently reupholstered in natural sheepskin, the chairs have a tactile, warm surface that complements the period’s focus on cozy, functional lounge seating.
While the designer remains unknown, the construction and stylistic details are reminiscent of Danish craftsmanship from the era, which prioritized both ergonomic comfort and refined aesthetics. The generous proportions and plush padding ensure an inviting and relaxed seating experience.
These chairs are excellent examples of 1940s Scandinavian furniture, blending traditional woodworking skills with modernist comfort and style. The dimensions are 87 cm wide, 100 cm deep, and 94 cm high (34.3 x 39.4 x 37 inches), with a seat height of 36 cm (14.2 inches). They are in excellent condition following their recent reupholstery, with the stained beech bases showing minor age-related wear.
