Severin Hansen bedside tables
These freestanding bedside or side tables, designed by Severin Hansen and produced by Haslev Møbelsnedkeri in Denmark during the 1950s, are excellent examples of Danish mid-century furniture craftsmanship. Constructed from teak, the tables display a warm and even grain that emphasizes the natural beauty of the wood. Hansen’s signature mitered joints highlight the precision and skill involved in their construction.
The design balances sharp geometric forms with softer elements, notably the lower shelf woven in natural cane. This woven surface provides a light, tactile contrast to the solid teak structure, enhancing both visual and textural interest. Each table includes a single drawer discreetly integrated below the tabletop, maintaining clean lines and functional simplicity.
The legs taper gracefully, contributing to an elegant and well-proportioned silhouette that reflects the understated sophistication characteristic of Danish design during this period.
The dimensions of each table are 50 cm in width, 35 cm in depth, and 50 cm in height (19.7 x 13.8 x 19.7 inches).
