Severin Hansen floor lamp
This rare floor lamp, model Bridge, was designed by Severin Hansen and produced by Haslev Møbelsnedkeri in Denmark during the 1950s. The lamp features a gracefully curved teak frame with a sculptural base composed of three tapered legs extending from a rounded central joint. The design emphasizes balance and organic form, hallmark traits of Scandinavian modern aesthetics. The adjustable lampshade is an original Le Klint pleated shade in white, which diffuses light evenly and complements the lamp’s soft and elegant visual presence. Brass fittings connect the shade to the arm, allowing for precise angling and directional control of the light.
Severin Hansen was a Danish furniture designer celebrated for his refined craftsmanship and meticulous woodworking. His designs often focused on elegant joinery and minimalist forms, closely aligned with the mid-century Danish modern movement. Haslev Møbelsnedkeri was a respected Danish cabinetmaking firm known for its high-quality furniture and lighting production during the mid-20th century, collaborating with many prominent designers of the era.
The lamp remains in original condition, displaying light wear consistent with its age. The teak frame has developed a rich patina that enhances its warmth and character, while the original Le Klint shade is well preserved with minor signs of aging.
The lamp measures approximately 41 cm in width, 60 cm in depth, and 160 cm in height (16.1 x 23.6 x 63 inches).
